I will inspire students to learn through a safe and engaging learning environment. As the old adage goes, "Knowledge is power," and I believe this whole-heartily. Therefore, my goal is to develop the whole of my students: emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively. I believe in order to achieve any of these goals, it is crucial to establish positive relationships with them. I plan to do this by taking notice of their interests and by being empathetic toward them. As an educator, I will be a “magic person” in my students' lives so they know I will always care for them despite some of their questionable behaviors (Fay & Funk, 1995). Also, I will implement classroom procedures which will become routines to create this consistent and safe environment. In addition, my students will develop and construct their own understanding through hands on learning opportunities. With all of these ideals in place in my classroom, I hope to create a desire in my students to learn.
